India to Face Japan in Historic T20 International
Reigning T20 world champions India will face Japan for the first time in an international men’s cricket match on September 22 at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi, the two cricket boards announced on Friday.
The match will be a landmark occasion for Japan, marking the first time its men’s team faces an ICC full member. Japan joined the ICC as an Affiliate Member in 1989 and gained Associate status in 2005.
Japan Cricket Association CEO Naoki Miyaji called the fixture a landmark moment, while BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia said India was delighted to be part of the historic occasion as the two teams meet for a special T20 International in Japan.
