India Expresses Concern Over Civilian Casualties In Lebanon After Israeli Strikes
India has expressed deep concern over reports of large-scale civilian casualties in Lebanon following recent Israeli airstrikes. According to Reuters, the strikes have killed more than 300 people, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict in the region.
The escalation comes after Israel launched an incursion into Lebanon last month targeting Hezbollah, following cross-border fire linked to the wider Iran-related conflict. The situation has further intensified regional tensions involving Iran and its allies.
India’s foreign ministry, based in New Delhi, stressed the importance of protecting civilians and respecting international law, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. While India maintains close ties with Israel, including high-level engagements such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit prior to the conflict, the latest violence is also straining fragile ceasefire efforts and broader diplomatic talks involving global stakeholders, including upcoming discussions in Islamabad.
