India Clinch Third T20 World Cup, Earn Global Praise
India strengthened their dominance in white-ball cricket by winning their third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title after a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand national cricket team in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. Opener Sanju Samson continued his outstanding form with a third consecutive 80-plus score to win Player of the Tournament, while fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered a superb spell of 4-15 to earn Player of the Match. Captain Suryakumar Yadav lifted the trophy as India celebrated a dominant campaign.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain described India’s success as the result of a powerful batting lineup combined with Bumrah’s match-winning bowling, calling the team “virtually unbeatable.” Fellow commentator Michael Atherton said India were not only the best T20 side but currently the strongest team in white-ball cricket, highlighting their remarkable record of 30 wins in their last 32 ICC global matches.
Cricket greats including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh praised the team’s achievement, while former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar credited India’s long-term planning and strong cricketing structure for their continued dominance. Yadav said the team will now aim for further glory, including a potential gold medal at the 2028 Summer Olympics, where cricket will feature in the T20 format.
