Hyderabad, Gujarat Seal IPL Playoff Spots as Chennai Near Exit
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans secured their places in the IPL playoffs after Hyderabad’s five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings. Royal Challengers Bengaluru had already qualified earlier, while Punjab Kings remain in contention for the final playoff berth despite their fate depending on other results.
Chennai Super Kings are now on the verge of elimination after suffering their seventh defeat of the season. Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai are all still mathematically alive, but Punjab currently hold the advantage in the race for the last remaining spot.
Chennai’s struggles this season have also raised questions over captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s form and the future of head coach Stephen Fleming. Fleming admitted the team has underperformed and said decisions regarding his future would be up to the franchise management.
