For ‘burning tricolour’ while recording TikTok video 4 Lucknow boys charged with sedition

Four boys were set up for charges of sedition for supposedly burning the tricolor while recording a video on well known portable application TikTok in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

Police have captured one of the blamed and are on a post for others after the occurrence in Bazarkhala zone of the state capital at around 9pm on Sunday.

“A neighborhood inhabitant, one Ravi Kant, was cycling close Tikait Rai Talab when he saw the boys burning the tricolor. Ravi Kant alongside other people who were playing close to the recreation center requested that the young men stop and called the police,” Anil Kumar Yadav, collaborator magistrate of police of the region, said.

Based on the complaint given by Ravi Kant, police held up a first data report (FIR) under a few segments, including 124(A) for rebellion, of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the boys.

Yadav said beside sedition police have also slapped section 153 (promoting enmity between different groups), 504 (intentional insult) 505 (statement conducing to public mischief), 352 (punishment for assault), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.
