Ericsson to Manufacture All Telecom Antennas for Indian Market Locally

Sweden-based telecom giant Ericsson has announced plans to localize the production of all its telecom antennas for the Indian market by June 2025. This strategic shift comes amid a surge in demand from Indian telecom operators such as Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, who are rapidly scaling up 5G services. The increased domestic demand has helped offset a slowdown in orders from the United States, Ericsson’s largest market.
Ericsson, which began manufacturing in India in 1994, will produce the antennas in Gurgaon through its local partner VVDN Technologies. The move is expected to strengthen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing telecom markets. In addition to fulfilling domestic requirements, the company also plans to export a significant portion of the antennas manufactured in India.
The company’s logistics hub in Pune will continue to play a key role in supporting distribution and supply chain operations across the region. Ericsson currently operates other manufacturing units in Mexico, Romania, and China, but the localization in India signals its commitment to the South Asian market and its growing importance in the global 5G rollout.
