Delhi Hotel Fire Triggers Massive Rescue Operation
A devastating fire at a hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area claimed at least 21 lives on Wednesday, making it one of the deadliest fire incidents in the national capital in recent years. Police officials said more than 40 people were rescued from the building as emergency teams rushed to the scene.
Television footage showed thick smoke billowing from the hotel, with flames engulfing parts of the structure. Witnesses watched from nearby lanes as firefighters carried out rescue operations. Reports also indicated that two people jumped from an upper floor in an attempt to escape the blaze.
Authorities suspect the fire may have originated from a restaurant operating on the ground floor of the building, though investigations are ongoing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the tragedy, offering condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.
