Delhi Airport Staffer Among 2 Arrested For Smuggling Gold Worth ₹ 65 Lakh

A customs department official announced on Thursday that two men, one of whom was a contract worker at the Delhi airport, had been detained for allegedly attempting to smuggle in gold valued at around 65.57 lakh.
Tuesday after arriving from Riyadh, one of the accused was detained, the official reported.

Twelve rectangular gold bars totaling 1.4 kg were found in the flyer’s trouser pocket as he prepared to give them to the contract worker in one of the airport’s restrooms, according to the official.

According to him, the accused employee works as a cleaner at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.
The recovered gold, estimated at 65.57 lakh rupees, has been seized, and both of the accused have been taken into custody.
