‘DAM 999’ to Salento International Film Festival
Adding one more feather to its crown, ‘DAM 999’ gets selected to the 10th Annual Salento International Film Festival in ‘Best Feature Film’ category. Under BizTV Networks, this emotional thriller was the directorial venture of Sohan Roy and was based on the award winning short documentary DAMs – The Lethal Water Bombs.
The movie is a tribute for the 250,000 Victims of the Banqiao dam disaster, China. The movie also throws a light on ancient Indian concept of Navarasas (9 human emotions). With the cluster of stars from India and Hollywood, ‘DAM 999’ created a wave of controversy with its theme.
Established by Luigi Campanile in 2004, Salento International Film Festival aims to support the circulation of Independent Cinema. Emerging as a major cultural event and a top film festival in Southern Italy, SIFF is introducing a whole new arena of film making to its participants and audiences with 8 days of world premieres, special events, seminars, feature films, short films and documentaries.
This is not the first time that ‘DAM 999’ heads to any film festival; it has an array of awards and appreciations to its list including 5 Oscar selections in 3 categories ( original score, original song and best picture). This movie was officially selected for screening at the Golden Rooster Award and was the first ever Indian Movie to be screened at this platform. International Film Festival – Antigua Barbuda 2012, screened ‘DAM 999’ and the movie was able to take up position as ‘Judges Favorite’. Director Sohan Roy was honored with ‘The Star Award for Achievement in Film Industry’ for his courageous and passionate step towards film making. The movie won the award of excellence for the motion picture and sound track award of merit for the original score at the Global Music Awards 2012.
Apart from these, ‘DAM 999’was also selected into various global film festivals – Detective FEST, International Film Festival for Environment, Health and Culture-Jatarka 2013, Jaipur International Film Festival and Sangali Film Festival.
