Congress likely to field 1984 anti-Sikh riot accused’s brother in South Delhi seat
The inability of the Congress and the AAP to reach a seat sharing agreement in the national capital, where the BJP is the prime opponent of both and is a powerful force capable to win all the seven seats of the state, is likely to affect the prospects of victory of both the Congress and the AAP candidates.
Tactically, the Delhi unit of the Congress Party has not announced the name of the candidate it is going to field in the South Delhi seat, when it has publicised the list of candidates who have been selected to contest from the capital of the country, which has in total not less than seven seats.
There is a rumour that the Congress is likely to field Ramesh Kumar, the brother of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot accused Sajjan Kumar, in the South Delhi seat.
The announcement of the candidate list of the Congress Party has come a day after the seat sharing agreement between the AAP and the Congress failed.
The APP wanted the congress to extend the scope of the seat sharing agreement outside the wall of the national capital. But, the Congress wanted to limit the agreement inside the boundaries of Delhi.
The candidate list released by the Congress indicates that the Grand Old Party is very determined this time. Many big names have found place in the list. Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Union Minister Ajay Maken are some of them.

A political observer says in the absence of a seat sharing deal between the Congress and the AAP the political parties would end up splitting the anti-BJP votes by two and, thus, would pave way for the victory of the BJP.
