China tops the list of nations that produces dangerous products – Unique times

The European safety watchdog issued 2,435 notifications of unsafe products which range from toys to clothing and appliances in 2014. This notification is said to have increased about 3 per cent from 2013. It is found out that the source for a growing number of dangerous products for sale is China. Vera Jourova, the European commissioner for consumer affairs has stated that the high number of harmful products among toys are alarming by which we should be clearly aware about the toys that we are giving to our children. Around sixty-four percent of the dangerous goods are made on China including Hong Kong. Toys that topped the list of products were stopped before entering into the European market followed by clothing, electrical appliances and motor vehicles. These included huge products like soft toys with stuffing that could come loose and choke a child and those with detachable pieces which could be easily swallowed. There were even the lighters of the shape of bicycles and basketballs. Even shoes and leather articles were also covered with allergic Chromium VI and fashion jewellery which contained harmful metals. According to the watchdog, only 14 per cent of dangerous products came from European countries.
