CCPA Orders Investigation into Ola Electric Over Service and Product Complaints
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has directed the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to conduct a thorough investigation into Ola Electric following multiple complaints about deficiencies in its products and services. The move comes after a significant number of grievances were reported by consumers via the National Consumer Helpline (NCH). According to Nidhi Khare, head of the CCPA, the BIS Director General has been asked to submit a detailed investigation report within 15 days.
The CCPA’s action follows a staggering 10,644 complaints filed against Ola Electric between September 1, 2023, and August 31, 2024. Despite the company claiming that it had resolved 99.1% of the issues, further investigation revealed that many consumers were still dissatisfied. In a follow-up survey, the NCH contacted 287 consumers, finding that 79.2% of those who responded were not happy with the company’s resolutions.
This investigation highlights ongoing concerns with Ola Electric’s customer service, as numerous complaints persist despite the company’s assurances of resolution. The CCPA’s intervention underscores the growing scrutiny of the electric vehicle sector and the importance of consumer satisfaction in emerging industries.
