Bus falls into river in Kashmir; 8 ITBP jawans killed, 37 injured

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the death toll has risen to eight as a bus carrying ITBP jawans plunged into a river. A bus carrying officials of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police from Chandanwari to Srinagar fell into the river. There were 37 jawans and two Jammu and Kashmir police officers in the bus. The officials of the team were returning from Amarnath Yatra duty when the accident occurred.
The seriously injured jawans were airlifted to the military hospital in Srinagar. According to preliminary information, the bus overturned due to brake failure. The Border Security Force (BSF) helicopter has been dispatched for rescue operations. The injured were taken out by breaking the bus.
President Draupadi Murmu and Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the tragedy. The President tweeted that he is with the families of the deceased. Manoj Sinha said that the loss of brave soldiers is an irreparable loss. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha tweeted that all medical assistance has been given to the injured.
