British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar releases Iran ship

The British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar has released the ship of the West Asian country of Iran, which was stopped near its sea few weeks ago on the suspicion of sanctions-busting.

The authority of Gibraltar recently received a written assurance from Iran that their ship would not deposit its load in Syria.

It was due to the suspicion that the Iranian ship would deposit its load of oil in Syria defying the International sanction imposed on the country by the west that the ship was stopped near Gibraltar, the territory controlled by the United Kingdom.

Notably, a few days after the seizure of the ship, Iran retorted the action by blocking an UK flagged ship passing through the sea controlled by the Arab country.

Many suggest the possibility of swap in this case. If there is any ground in that, the UK ship will be released in few days. Unfortunately, at this moment, there is no clarity regarding that.

The capture of the Iranian ship worsened the relation between Iran and the UK. The new development is expected to reverse the situation.

There are reports that the US has opposed the UK’s decision to release the Iranian ship. It is unclear why the UK has rejected the suggestion of the US regarding the issue.

The US-Iran bilateral relation has worsened since the induction of pro-Israel Donald Trump as the President of the world’s most powerful country.
