A chemical truck explodes on the Pune-Mumbai Motorway, killing four people and injuring three more.
According to authorities, four persons were murdered and three were injured when a chemical-laden truck caught fire and detonated on the Pune-Mumbai Motorway on Tuesday.
The accident took place on the expressway stretch between Lonavala and Khandala, an official said.
According to him, the tanker caught fire after an accident and burst, sending hot balls of the chemical to fall on motorists on the road below.
According to a Lonavala police station officer, four motorists on the road below were hurt, three of whom died, while one person of the tanker was killed and two others in the truck were injured.
The injured were taken to a hospital, he added, adding that the fire had been doused at the site.
