Virat Kohli Says 2027 World Cup Will Be His Last for India
Virat Kohli has confirmed that the 2027 ODI World Cup will be his final World Cup appearance for India. The 37-year-old batter, who now represents India only in the 50-over format after retiring from T20 internationals and Test cricket, said he is determined to give everything to help India win the tournament.
Kohli is the leading century-maker in ODI cricket with 54 hundreds and has scored 14,941 runs in the format, second only to Sachin Tendulkar. The 2027 World Cup, jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, will be his fifth ODI World Cup. Kohli won the 2011 World Cup with India but was part of the team that lost the 2023 final to Australia.
Former India captain Rohit Sharma, who also currently plays only ODIs, said he remains motivated ahead of another World Cup campaign. Kohli and Rohit have both been selected for India’s three-match ODI series against the West Indies, with the opening match scheduled in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
