Adidas Denies 50% Layoff Reports at India Tech Hub
Adidas has denied reports that around 50% of employees at its India Technology Hub in Gurugram were laid off. The company confirmed that job cuts have taken place but said less than 20% of its India Technology workforce has been affected.
The company said the restructuring is aimed at simplifying its organisation, strengthening key capabilities and preparing for changing business and technology needs. Adidas also said India remains a strategically important market and that several roles are still open across the organisation.
Reports said software engineers, data scientists and data engineers were among those affected. Employees were reportedly informed during a September 15 townhall, with some receiving exit letters immediately while others were asked to stay until December to complete handovers and explore internal opportunities.
