Google-Backed Pixxel Raises $100 Million in Record Indian Space Tech Funding
Indian space technology startup Pixxel said on Monday it had raised $100 million in a Series C funding round led by Singapore state investor Temasek and British space-tech venture firm Seraphim. The deal marks the largest single funding round raised by an Indian space technology company, taking Pixxel’s total funding to $195 million.
The latest round also saw participation from existing investors Radical Ventures and growX Ventures, along with new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment. Founded by Awais Ahmed, Pixxel initially focused on hyperspectral satellites capable of capturing detailed information about the Earth’s surface beyond conventional satellite imagery.
Pixxel plans to use the fresh capital to expand its sensing capabilities through its Honeybee satellite constellation and high-resolution optical imaging satellites. The company will also further develop Aurora, its Earth intelligence platform, which combines satellite datasets to provide actionable insights for governments, industries and institutions.
