IndiGo Introduces Cheaper Cabin-Baggage-Only Fares
India’s largest airline IndiGo has introduced a new lower-cost ticket option for passengers travelling with only cabin baggage. The move comes as airlines continue to unbundle services in an effort to offer more flexible and budget-friendly fare choices to travellers.
The new entry-level fare, called “IndiGo Lite,” is designed for economy passengers and provides a reduced base price. It includes an auto-assigned seat at no extra cost and allows a cabin baggage allowance of up to 7 kg. The offer will be available across both domestic and international routes.
IndiGo said the Lite fare can be booked only through its direct channels starting July 1, with travel beginning July 15. The development follows similar moves by competitors, including Air India, which recently launched a basic economy fare without complimentary meals as airlines face rising costs and competitive pressure.
