India’s First 24×7 LPG ATM Launched in Gurugram
Gurugram has introduced India’s first 24×7 LPG ATM at Sector 33, Sohna, allowing residents to exchange empty cylinders for filled composite cylinders in just 2-3 minutes. The pilot initiative, launched by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), aims to provide a quicker, contactless alternative amid ongoing LPG supply pressures.
The fully digital system requires users to verify their mobile number via OTP and scan the barcode or QR code on their empty cylinder. Payments can be made through UPI, credit/debit cards, or net banking, after which a filled cylinder is dispensed while the empty one is retained. The machine uses lightweight fibre-based cylinders weighing around 15 kg, compared to conventional 31 kg metal cylinders.
With a storage capacity of about 10 cylinders, the ATM automatically alerts nearby agencies when stock levels are low to ensure timely replenishment. The project is part of a broader effort to modernize fuel distribution, enhance urban accessibility, and encourage adoption of safer, dust-free, corrosion-resistant composite cylinders.
