Dr A Seema conferred Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018

seemaKerala scientist Dr A Seema conferred the highest civilian honour ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar’ by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, India. for crafting a sensor attached brassiere to diagnose breasts cancer in women. She is a scientist at C-MET (Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology), Thrissur.

The honour carries Rs 1 lakh and a citation. President Ram Nath Kovind would confer the award on March 8, the International Women’s Day, at an event in New Delhi.

Sensors sized 1mm length, 1 mm width and 1.5mm deep are known as probe when they are compared to a system. A certain number of such probes would be stitched to both cups of the cotton bra and join each other. Data collected by them are transferred to computers through a socket in 2D pictures, also via mobile and Bluetooth.

The diagnosis for one person could be taken over 15 to 30 minutes.
