UN bodies warn against India’s move to deport Rohingyas

jgvh

Clearly indicating that the International bodies which function under the United States are closely monitoring the developments happening in the Asian regions, particularly in the embattled Rakhine state of Myanmar, some prominent bodies of the world largest and most powerful multi-lateral organisation have warned India against its move to deport some Rohingya Muslims, who illegally infiltrated into the Indian state of Assam, back to the disturbed region of Nobel laurite Aung San Suu Kyi’s country.

The bodies have pointed out that India cannot support ‘refoulement’ when the United Nations is against such merciless activities.

Earlier, Bangladesh adopted a stand against ‘refoulement’, asserting that though the country is in favour of the idea of letting the refuges return to their place of origin, they are not in support of the idea of forcing them to return to a land which, they feel, is unsafe for their peaceful existence.

Anyway, the latest development is likely to put India, which is struggling with the issue of the increasing infiltration of illegal migrants through the North East, in a difficult situation.

It is to be noted that the Indian government has not responded officially to the statement released by the UN bodies over the deportation issue.

What should be India’s policy on the issue of the increasing infiltration of Rohingya Muslims through the North East borders of the country?
