Meta says India most significant country for all new things across its platforms

According to a top business official, India is the most important country for Meta in terms of all the new features that are available on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

According to Manish Chopra, Director and Head of Partnerships for Facebook India  (Meta), Meta has also given countless companies and millions of creators a fantastic platform to express their creativity and grow audiences in India through short-form films.

“India is a very critical market for our platforms from multiple dimensions. A lot of new product learning and incubation is done here, and ‘Reels’ is an example of that… this is the market where we have done the most amount of testing of new product features.

“India is the most significant market where the focus is for all the new things that we are doing across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp,” he told PTI. Mr. Chopra was giving a speech outside of Meta’s annual “Creator Day,” which was recently hosted in Kolkata for the first time.

According to him, the occasion honours creators and gives them an opportunity to produce, work together, and share knowledge. Reels (short for videos), which was introduced two years ago, has reportedly garnered enormous popularity in India, especially tier-2 and tier-3 cities, according to Mr. Chopra. ” India serves as the international “Reels” lighthouse for Meta. According to a recent research study, over 200 million people watch short-form videos for roughly 45 minutes each day, and this number is expected to rise to 600 million people.

The Men’s T20 World Cup’s top match moments and highlights will be available to view through clips on ‘Reels’ on Instagram and Facebook, according to a partnership recently announced by Meta and the ICC.

Chopra claimed that the internet giant constantly takes action to combat the threat posed by phoney profiles and the dissemination of false material on Meta platforms.
