₹ 20 Lakh Penalty For Air Asia After Lapses Found In Pilots’ Training

The aviation regulating body DGCA has fined AirAsia (India) Ltd. 20 lakh after its surveillance operation discovered that a few required exercises of the airline’s pilots were not completed during the scheduled Pilot Proficiency Check/Instrument Rating check (which is a requirement of the International Civil Aviation Organization).

As a result of failing to perform his duties in accordance with the relevant DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements, the airline’s Head of Training was also fired for three months. Eight selected examiners have also each received a fine of 3 lakh for the same.

The concerned manager, head of training, and all designated examiners of Air Asia received show cause notifications from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, or DGCA, asking them to explain why enforcement action should not be taken against them for failing to monitor their legal responsibilities. Their written responses were analysed, and decisions were made in light of them.
