Renowned anti-corruption movement leader’s nephew arrested in corruption case

A nephew of AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who came to power in the national capital with the help of an anti-corruption movement, has been arrested in connection with a corruption case related to the construction of drains by the Public Works Department.

The case, in which Vinay Bansal has been booked, was actually registered around a year ago. At that time, the prime accused in the case was Mr Vinay Bansal’s father Surender Bansal. Then, it was alleged that Mr Surender Bansal and those closely associated with the day to day operations of his company Renu Constructions committed some irregularities during the construction of drains as part of the government project. 

Mr Surender Bansal died shortly after he was named in the FIR registered against the company in connection with the alleged irregularities.

The arrest of Mr Vinay Bansal is the latest arrest which has happened in relation with the alleged corruption case. He has been taken into custody from his residence located in Pitampura, North-West Delhi.

The AAP has called the case as a politically motivated case and asserted that all charges registered against its leader’s nephew are politically motivated.

Will the incident affect the AAP’s credential as an anti-corruption party?
