ABD’s Retirement: The game will miss one of its greatest finds

Former South African captain and one of modern day cricket’s best batsman AB de Villiers has retired from all forms of international cricket.

“I have decided to retire from all international cricket with immediate effect,” he said. “After 114 Test matches, 228 ODIs and 78 T20 Internationals, it is time for others to take over. I have had my turn, and to be honest, I am tired.”

While many cricketers choose to retire gradually from each format of the game, De Villiers decision to quit all formats at the same time came as a surprise. He said, “It would not be right for me to pick and choose where and when and in what format I play for the Proteas. For me, in green and gold, it must be everything or nothing.”

To say the least, the game and his fans will miss him immensely. We wish him the best for his future.
