Tata Motors’ Iveco Takeover Bid Secures 87.8% Acceptance
India’s Tata Motors has crossed the 80% acceptance threshold in its takeover bid for Italian truck manufacturer Iveco Group, reaching 87.8% on the final day of the offer on October 26, according to an Italian stock market filing. Based on provisional results, Tata Motors now holds 89.42% of Iveco’s common share capital.
The tender offer, which began on September 7, initially offered €14.10 per share before being increased to €14.40 on October 9. The revised offer helped Tata Motors move closer to completing the acquisition of the Italian commercial vehicle manufacturer. Both companies stated that the final results would be announced before the market opens on October 29.
The offer is set to reopen from November 2 to November 6, giving eligible shareholders another opportunity to tender their shares. Tata Motors had agreed in July 2025 to acquire Iveco’s commercial vehicle business in a deal valued at €3.8 billion, following the planned disposal of Iveco’s defence business. The acquisition marks a significant step in Tata Motors’ efforts to strengthen its global commercial vehicle presence.
