Toyota to Build New 100,000-Unit Car Plant in Maharashtra

Toyota Motor Corporation announced on Monday that it will build a new vehicle manufacturing plant in Maharashtra, India, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 units. The factory is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2029 as the automaker expands its presence in the fast-growing Indian market.

The new facility will be located in the Bidkin Industrial Area in Maharashtra and will produce a new SUV model, according to the company. Toyota said the project is expected to create around 2,800 jobs, boosting local manufacturing and employment opportunities in the region.

India has become a key growth market for global automakers due to rising demand for SUVs and passenger vehicles. Toyota’s latest investment reflects increasing confidence in the country’s automotive sector and its long-term manufacturing potential.
