Even as affected families were being evacuated to temporary relief centres and two unsafe hotels were still being demolished in Joshimath, which has been severely affected by subsidence, the number of buildings developing cracks increased to 849 on Monday, of which 165 are situated in the danger zone.

According to the daily briefing of the Disaster Management Authority, the district administration has so far relocated 800 individuals, representing 237 households, to safety.

Additionally, they said that 2,205 individuals can stay in 491 rooms spread across 20 structures that have been designated as temporary relief camps in Pipalkoti, outside of the Joshimath municipal jurisdiction.
