Kamal Haasan On Birthday Plans, Film With Mani Ratnam And More

In a recent interview with NDTV’s Sam Daniel Stalin, veteran actor Kamal Haasan—who turns 68 today—spoke candidly about his birthday plans, his eagerly anticipated partnership with director Mani Ratnam, and other topics.

After 35 long years, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam are reunited for an unnamed project. In the 1987 movie Nayakan, the pair collaborated. The actress expressed excitement for the project when speaking to Sam Daniel Stalin. When questioned about his plans for his birthday this year, the actor responded, ” I have never believed in celebrating one single thing about your birth. I think life should be a celebration. For which it must be worthy of that celebration. I am trying to make myself deserve all these celebrations by making my fans, my comrades from the party do good welfare work and this is just an excuse to initiate such moments.”

The veteran actor added, “There are important things. More important than cake cutting or getting old. I think the number that denotes my age is not a great thing and that is not going to give me the respect that I seek. That will come from people who are benefitted from all these things.”

Speaking of his partnership with Mani Ratnam, Kamal Hassan expressed his “excitement” about the prospect of doing so. Kamal Haasan was present for the Ponniyin Selvan: I big trailer and song debut earlier this year in Chennai. He had also provided the narration for the movie’s opening. For the untitled Mani Ratnam project, Kamal Haasan will work with composer AR Rahman as well. Tenali’s soundtrack was created 22 years ago by AR Rahman for Kamal Haasan’s movie.
