14 forced abortions in eight years; Girl committed suicide
The young woman who underwent 14 abortions finally committed suicide. A 33-year-old woman committed suicide in her apartment in Delhi. Citing the suicide note, the police said that the woman committed suicide after her partner, who was living together, forced her to perform an abortion 14 times. The incident took place on July 5 in Jaitpur area of South East Delhi. The young woman was in a live-in relationship with the young man who had promised her marriage.
The suicide note written by the young woman says that she underwent 14 abortions in the last eight years, but the young man refused to marry her and had no other option but to commit suicide. The police said that the woman was living separately from her husband.
A police officer said that a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against a youth working in a software firm in Noida. The woman was found hanging in the room. The girl’s parents, who live in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, were informed and the body was handed over to them after post-mortem.
A case has been registered under Sections 306 (incitement to suicide), 376 (rape) and 313 (abortion of a woman without her consent). The woman’s husband, who works in a private firm, was also summoned for questioning. He said that he separated from his wife eight years ago.
