‘Gully Boy’ receives the best film award in The Asian Academy Creative Awards

‘Gully Boy’, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, India’s official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards, received the best film from India award in the regional finals at the Asian Academy Creative Awards ceremony.

Farhan Akhtar on his Twitter account expressed his happiness over the victory and congratulated the entire team. He wrote “Gully Boy wins the best film from India in the regional finals of the Asian Academy Creative Awards. Congratulations team”.

The film draws inspiration from the lives of Mumbai street rappers Vivian Fernandes known as Divine and Naved Shaikh known as Naezy and revolves around the underground rap movement in India.

In the movie directed by Zoya Akhtar, Ranveer Singh and Siddhant Chaturvedi plays the role of street rappers Murad and MC Sher recpectively from the slums of Mumbai, while Alia Bhatt essays the role of Safeena, an aspiring medical student in love with Murad. Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Varma and Vijay Raaz are also seen in the movie playing pivotal roles.
