Woxsen School of Business has been launched in Hyderabad today, in an endeavor to provide a platform to nurture entrepreneurship in India. UK based Entrepreneur, Praveen (Veen) Pula hailing from Hyderabad and Dr R Narasimhan, Dean were present at the launch today. The brain child of Mr. Praveen Pula, Woxsen School of Business has a sprawling 200 acre campus at Sadasivpet, Hyderabad.
Woxsen is based on a global standard of excellence in Leadership, Organization, Communication and Strategy. The LOCS model is unique to Woxsen and forms the fundamental basis of a larger curriculum that brings to the fore the importance of having professionals/ entrepreneurs who, in the future, will evolve into successful business owners with strong LOCS skills.
Woxsen Business School has been promoted by Mr. Praveen (Veen) Pula, a UK based Education Entrepreneur who has recently been declared “business man of the year” in the UK and one of Mr Pula’s businesses’ has been ranked the 16th fastest growing business in the UK by Sunday Times.
According to Mr Praveen (Veen) Pula, “India is a young ecosystem with relatively smaller number of start-ups. There are several opportunities for innovative, practical and need-based business solutions that are waiting to be exploited. Hence there is a need to develop new-age entrepreneurs in India, who are willing to take risks and think beyond the traditional business models. We have conceived the idea of Woxsen School of Business to fuel this entrepreneurial spirit through structured training, best-in-class management programs, global educational resources and best practices. We further aim to establish Woxsen School of Business as one of the FT top 20 premier business schools by 2020.”
He further added, “Investing in India has been a lifelong desire and at 34 I have been able to fulfill my vision of giving back to my home country an iconic educational institution in the form of Woxsen School of Business that endeavours to make a mark on the global management education map”.
The Dean, Dr R. Narasimhan, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and Madras and Tata Institute of Fundamental Sciences & Research – Mumbai is a veteran in Indian business education. He has also spent eight years with Great Lakes Institute of Management. Speaking on the occasion he said, “At Woxsen School of Business, those with an entrepreneurial bent will be trained and mentored through the LOCS model and a specially designed curriculum based on the ‘value grid’ approach. Our aim is to create a gold standard using the LOCS model in structured management education. Further our students will be groomed to be game changers and risk takers in an ever changing business environment.”
With a total investment of 500 cr, phase 1 of the campus is scheduled to be ready by Feb 2014. The 200 acre campus will house classrooms, library, auditorium, staff and student residential quarters, a golf course and several open spaces.
The Woxsen philosophy, will soon take the shape of a Trade Tower, an idea innovation center, being constructed in the heart of the campus, that will fuel entrepreneurship among students by encouraging them to envision game-changing business ideas and take them to fruition with the support of external experts, corporate mentors, other resources and access to ‘seed capital’ provided by Woxsen.
Woxsen has filed for an AICTE accreditation for it to start classes in 2014.
