Thirst for antiques
Dr Monson Mavunkal is a very dedicated antique collector. He has a huge collection of antiques –from ancient holy books to old luxury cars. Some of those antiques are very rare and are priceless. The first edition of Holy Bible, the books used by Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the last powerful Muslim Emperor Aurangazeb and Mysore Sultan Tipu Sultan, the holy books and documents such as one of the India’s greatest epics Mahabharata written in the palm leaves, the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and Pablo Picasso are some of the priceless items this renowned cosmetologist has with him.
Dr Monson says that he has managed to collect as much antiques as he can. The antiques displayed in the doctor’s house situated in Kochi, Kerala, give a feeling that the person collected these items has a good eye for classy and highly valuable items.
Some of these antiques with the doctor have received huge offers. He has only one answer to all those who comes with such offers “these are a part of the personal collection and are not for sale”.
