The organizers of Miss Asia have filed a petition in High Court seeking justice against the illegal action of the Maradu Municipality. The petitioner contended that the action of the municipality was in violation of the rules and discriminatory.

Miss Asia was scheduled to happen at 6.30pm on August 18th at Le Meridien, Kochi.  Around 5.00pm, the municipality issued a stop memo stating that it was not informed in prior and they happen to know it from the Malayala Manorama newspaper dated 14.08.2015. Organizers had intimated one and a half months prior to the event to the municipal chairman and secretary of Maradu Municipality.

As per the rule, 24% entertainment tax is liable for the sale of ticket of any events. It was clearly mentioned in all the promotions by the organizers that the fund generated from the sale of tickets would be given for 100life challenge heart surgeries. In spite of the noble cause, they demanded a sum of Rs. 10,80,000/- as entertainment tax to conduct the event.

Last minute the Municipal Chairman also denied the fact that the organisers had approached him for the prior approval and permission. That action taken by a chairman of the municipality is shameful said the organizer of the event, Mr. Ajit Ravi Pegasus.
