Tejas Vs Rafale; a price comparison: one latter equals two former

While negotiating an intergovernmental deal on fighter jet, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar compared indigenous fighter jet with Rafale, a French made jet. Reports say that, the centre government has reached final round of negotiations with the French authorities over the, much awaited, Rafale jet deal. Mr Parrikar claims that Rafale is an extremely expensive fighter jet so we have to bring down its cost through continuous negotiations. He observes that India can buy at least two indigenous fighters jet, Tejas, at the cost of one French made fighter jet, Rafale. In addition, he asserts that the indigenous flight is similar to the Rafale in terms of its technical quality and facilities.

It is learned that our country is planning to buy at least thirty six fighter jets from the French government through an intergovernmental deal. As per reports, this is the first time a defence minister is comparing an indigenous fighter flight with a foreign fighter jet. It is said that Tejas comes under Light Combat Aircraft category and it possess most-modern technical facilities. According to media reports, the defence ministry is aiming at improving the defence capabilities of the Indian Air Force by introducing new technically advanced fighter jets. While speaking about the Tejas’s release, he conforms that the initial squadron of the indigenous jet will be released on coming September.
