Tapioca Biriyani/ Kappa Biriyani
Tapioca – 1 Kg
Beef – ½ Kg
Turmeric Powder – ½ teaspoon
Onions – 2 (sliced)
Shallots – 10 nos
Coconut Oil – 3 teaspoon
Green Chillies – 10 nos
Chilly Powder – 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
Pepper Powder – 1 teaspoon
Garam Masala powder – 1 teaspoon
Ginger paste – 1 teaspoon
Garlic Paste – 2 teaspoon
Mustard Seeds – ½ teaspoon
Salt – As needed
Curry Leaves – 2 sprigs
Cut the tapioca into small pieces. Cook the cleaned tapioca with salt and turmeric powder in a deep pan. Cook until it’s smooth. Then drain off the water completely.
Add blended garlic, ginger, chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder and salt into the cleaned beef pieces for the marination. Keep it aside to marinate about 30 minutes.
Then crush the shallots, garlic, ginger and green chillies together. Add oil in a cooker. After it gets heated, add the crushed mixture into it. Then add the sliced onions and curry leaves to it. Saute it well. Then put the marinated beef in the pressure cooker and add enough water and salt to it.
Cook the meat till the 3rd whistle. Then add the mashed tapioca to beef and mix well. Heat it about 3 minutes.
Take another pan and heat oil in the pan, splutter mustard seeds and then add crushed onions, dried green chillies and curry leaves for seasoning.
Add this mix to the tapioca and meat mix.
Tapioca Biriyani ready for serving. Before serving garnish it with a sprig of curry leaves.
