India gives enormous space to its woman population. Like all other countries which respect gender equality, India also ensures through its constitution that its woman population’s rights are not violated and its woman population gets complete freedom to live their life peacefully and happily.

But, are we up to the mark? There are many realities and studies in front of us to realise that our policies for the good of woman are not up to the mark –in short, our policies for the wellbeing of our woman population has many shortcomings.

A latest study report published in a leading national daily says that the negative tendency of suicide is very high among the Indian women who come under the age group 15-39. The report more specifically says that the condemnable act of suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the Indian women who come under the aforesaid age group. Notably, the study also highlights that the Indian women are more vulnerable to this act compared to their counterparts in other nations which share similar social, cultural, political and economic aspects as that of India.

It is high time to find a solution. More feasible policies are to be made. What can we do? Or, what should our government do?
