Hundreds of security personals have been deployed in and around the famous hill temple of South India Sabarimala, which is set to open for the ‘Chithira Aattathirunal’ festival today.

With a section of devotees led by the BJP determinant to foil any attempt to facilitate the entry of women aged between 10 and 50 into the temple and the government led by the CPM determinant to implement the Supreme Court order that supports the entry of women of all ages into the place of worship of their choice, the things are not peaceful in the temple.

An expert says that both the BJP and CPM should show the maturity to find a feasible solution to the issue.

Last day, the government decision to block the entry of journalists to Pampa, the base station of the hill temple, invited serous criticism. Later, the government was forced to relook their policy. As a result, the journalists were allowed to reach Pampa by night last day.

Anyway, the unprecedented security arrangements are likely to create some difficulties to the devotees. But, considering the present situation of the region, these arrangements cannot be termed as irrelevant or unnecessary.
