PM’s Beti Bachao campaign improves sex ratio of Haryana

Saving our sisters who are about to born in one of India’s most notorious states for female foeticide, Haryana, the ambitious “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a significant improvement in the sex ratio of the state and the people’s attitude towards the female child. The laws making the sex determination and female foeticide illegal were effectively implemented by the concerned authorities using numerous technics and policies in order to mark the remarkable improvement in the sex ratio. Under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Office, the implementers effectively coordinated the district level implementation officials. A Facebook group was constituted under the leadership of a senior official for sharing the experiences confronted by the direct implementers while implementing the program; it was both informative as well as adaptive. The implementers made sure that no culprits involved in the crimes related to the female foeticide were got off scot free. Along with these programmes, several awareness programs, rallies, and street plays were conducted across the state encouraging the rural population and urban population alike to be a part of the revolutionary mission. It was an appreciable fact that the persistent effort of the implementers helped the female sex ration to touch the prestigious ‘900-mark level’ for the first time in last two decades. The renowned Haryana sportspersons like Sakshi Malik, Geeta Phogat, Babita, and Deepa Malik participated in the campaigns organised by the government. Now, the biggest problem faced by the Haryana government is the mushrooming of ultrasound scanning centres near the state borders. The program initiated by the central government and implemented by the Haryana state is worth appreciable. Our sisters deserve protection, care and respect.
