PM Modi set to visit Tamil Nadu today to launch ‘Amma Scooter Scheme’

The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is set to visit the Southern state of Tamil Nadu today to launch an ambitious project, named ‘Amma Scooter Scheme’.

The scheme aims to empower the working women community of the state. Under the scheme, the government provides fifty per cent subsidy for working women, aged between 18 and 40, whose family’s yearly income is not more than 2.5 lakhs Indian rupees, to buy two wheelers.

The laudable scheme will be launched in a colourful function arranged in Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, along with several ministers, will also attend the function organised by the state.

In order to provide foolproof security to the Indian Supremo, at least two thousand police and paramilitary officials have been deployed in the state.

The day the state has selected to launch their special scheme is special for the people also; February twenty-four is the birth anniversary charismatic leader J Jayalalithaa.

In fact, the scheme itself is named after this late Chief Minister, who was popular for her women-oriented welfare programs.

In his two-day visit to the South, the Prime Minister will also visit Puducherry, along with Tamil Nadu.
