Opposition parties corner ruling front in UP assembly

In what could be termed as a surprise political move, the opposition parties, including the congress, BSP and SP, has jointly attacked the ruling BJP in the UP assembly. The time of the joint attack gives more worries to the ruling government as it has been the first day of the first legislative assembly session since the inception of the new government led by the BJP. Alleging that the law and order of the state is in the worst state and the government is deceiving the innocent farmers, the opposition parties have even disrupted the Governor’s address. UP Governor Ram Naik has had to suffer the paper ball attack from the opposition party members. Fortunately, the marshals have successfully used files to dodge the paper ball attack. The most disturbing fact is that when this commotion has erupted, all senior political leaders including UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and former CM and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav have been present at the house. Can a democratically elected house be disrupted using some undemocratic means in a democratic country which have a rich cultural and value system? The pandemonium happened in the assembly has been telecasted in the public channel, Doordarshan. When will our legislators acknowledge the fact that India is watching? When will we learn to stop encouraging the hooligans to be elected to the legislative houses? In the past few years, our country has witnessed several similar incidents. It is the high time to acknowledge that this unruly behaviour of the legislatures degrades the democratic values that India respectfully possesses.
