The Family Cheese 2

Off the record @Rowson’s Reserve Smooth Spaces, a one of its kind platform that supports original and experimental forms of alternative music in an easy going setting is bringing the trend to Hyderabad on a monthly basis.

Kick starting on 31st August, the first edition of ‘Off the record @Rowson’s Reserve Smooth Spaces will enthrall music lovers in the city with live performances by The Family Cheese, Mad Orange Firework and The Upper Basement. As indie as they are, influences such as funk, jazz, rock & roll mixed with garage band rawness give these bands its unique upbeat soul.

‘Off the Record @ Rowson’s Smooth Spaces aims to capture the essence of the indie scene with bands that have been playing extensively across the country and have made waves for being extremely talented and entertaining. The event is targeted at music lovers seeking to find alternative ways to express themselves, living up to the multi-ethnic spirit of the city.

Commenting on the initiative Bhavesh Somaya, Marketing Director, Diageo India said, “Rowson’s Reserve Smooth Spaces wishes to create a trendy, laid back and easy going atmosphere for alternative forms of entertainment in the country. We are thrilled to take ‘Off the Record’ to music enthusiasts in Hyderabad.  This is our endeavor to promote the new and emerging talent pool by giving them a unique platform while capturing the essence of the growing ‘indie scene’ in India”.

The tickets for ‘Off the Record’ are priced at Rs. 200 and the event will be held at The Shed: Potens Crossfit Centre (situated behind Inorbit Mall, Durgam Cheruvu Road, Hitex City), an eclectic atmosphere lending an industrial, grunge and minimalistic vibe to the event.

Unearthing the talent

The Family Cheese is a jam band from Chennai. The band consists of Apurv Issac (guitars, vocals), Homi Rustumji (bass) and Yohan Marshall (drums, vocals). The Family Cheese set out to silence the critics and give the people a fresh exciting experience in the Indian music scene and it shall never be the same again. They are also releasing their album on the 28th August in Mumbai and will be promoting the same at the gig.

Mad Orange Fireworks is a Bangalore based rock band who play their own special brand of music that they call ‘Orange Rock’ – drawing influences of Jazz, Funk, Pop & Rock. They are picking up wide critical acclaim and are said to be quite an entertaining act.

The upper basement is one of Hyderabad’s rarest no cover Alternate rock band with a genre still left hanging off the balance. Jam sessions bring in musical tales right from funk, blues, grunge and good ol rock n roll. They have been really getting around a few major gigs across the city as being one of the only all original acts.
