No more cataract surgery: here comes an eye drop to ‘dissolve’ cataract

A study published in the journal science revels that the scientists found a new component, which have certain potential to dissolve the cataract. The cataract is the major cause of blindness among the old people. Last year, around thousands of people are admitted in various hospitals for cataract surgery.There were reports that, in some remote areas in Andra and Karnataka, the people were met with complete blindness after the cataract surgery. The cataract surgery is a costly one so the rural population mostly depends on the free eye camps.  There are still thousands in the country, who were either in fear or economical-helpless.  However, the new compound, named compound 29, is a boon to this big population; as the cataract medicine will turn cheaper and harmless, after the insertion of this compound. The cataract is said to be affected directly on the eye lenses, the scientist found the disease causing proteins as crystallins. The effective study on the crystalline has helped the researchers in generating the ‘compound 29’. The medicine is successfully tested in the mice and rate; very soon, we could expect this revolutionary medicine in the market.
