MP Congress set to stage protest outside PM’s residence

Congress leaders from the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh are set to stage a sit-in strike outside the office residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The protest has been announced to pressurise the central government to release the central funds which the state needs to overcome the difficulties created by the flood that the state faced in the recent past.

A Congress leader alleged that the BJP-led Central Government had purposefully blocked the funds the Congress-led state government deserves.

The Congress Party has demanded the immediate release of Rs. 32,171 crore of the central funds, under different heads.

The protest will be led by Congress legislator Arif Masood. The Congress will submit a memorandum of their demands to the Prime Minister Office.

In the recent past, many Indian state experienced rain-related difficulties. Most of them suffered agricultural loss due to those difficulties.

Many believe that the central government is doing whatever they can to support the states which need support.

They have strongly denounced the announced protest as an attempt to politicise the issue. And, for that reason, they have strongly criticised the Congress Party.

The BJP has not yet responded publically about the announced sit-in strike.
