Modi Vs Whom

A question no opposition party, which aims to create a grand-alliance ahead of the 2019 General Election, wishes to address is that who will be projected against the charismatic Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the PM candidate in the election.

It is not that there is no leader available. The sad reality is that if anyone is projected the alliance will fade away before it blossoms. It is as simple as that.

The recent by-election result of the South Indian state of Karnataka proves that the grand alliance has the potential to do miracles. In the election, the JD(S)-Congress alliance has wristed the stronghold of the BJP in the state.

The upcoming assembly election in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan is a great opportunity for the alliance.

But, no change can be expected if the alliance goes to the general election without announcing their PM candidate.

It is vital to understand that the 2019’s political scenario is extremely different from the 2004’s. Now, the country have highly-popular and charismatic PM and well-organised and powerful party, which are not willing to step down from the corridor of the power for no reason.

The congress is the party which has played a crucial role in all important political developments in the country. This time also, it is the one which can make a different.

For the desired change, the grand old party may have to let other opposition parties and leaders strengthen at its cost. If the Congress is still guided by the same principles it followed when it fight for the freedom of the nation, nothing will stop the party from doing so.
