Karnataka CM promises separate secretariat for Kalyan Karnataka region

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has promised to erect a separate secretariat for the Kalyan Karnataka region, which was formerly called the Hyderabad Karnataka region.

The big announcement has come at the time the region celebrates its liberation from the former Hyderabad princely state.

The region was a part of the princely state of Hyderabad. It was liberated by the Indian government a year after the Independence using its military might.

Since its Independence from the princely state, the region celebrates the date of liberation every year as the Kalyan Karnataka Utsava Dinacharane.

Earlier, the name of the region was Hyderabad Karnataka, the name which indicates its connection with the former Hyderabad princely state.

Recently, the region has been renamed to Kalyan Karnataka, the title which indicates its inseparable connection with the state of Karnataka.

This time, it is the first celebration since the region has been renamed to a name which is close to Karnataka.

Apart from the offer of special secretariat, the CM has promised to allocate more funds for the development of the region.

The Karnataka government is less likely to earmark any special fund for the region in this year. That special assistance is expected to be allocated in the next year’s budget.
