iyyg

What is being heard from the North Eastern state of Tripura is not good for journalists. The supporters of the party, which recently snatched the control of the state cracking the leftist legacy, as per a report, have attacked nearly two journalists. Moreover, there are reasons to assume that violence against journalists has sharply increased since the induction of the new government in the state.

Narayan Dhar and Priyatosh Das are the two journalists who have been attacked by the supporters of the ruling party in two separate incidents.

At this moment, it is not clear why the journalists have been attacked. Anyway, the police authorities have registered cases in both incidences. An investigation is on.

Not only in the state of Tripura, but also in other states of the country the rate of violence against journalists has raised a bit in the recent past. The issue should be addressed by the authorities immediately, demand journalists. The lack of a proper framework to address the concerns of journalists is the actual reason for the rise in the rate of violence against journalist, opines a journalist.

The profession of journalism is closely associated with the concept of democracy. A society which gives no protection to journalists is not fit to be called as a democratic society.
