A charismatic lady who has played a significant role in the growth of Indian politics, Sushma Swaraj, has passed away due to heart attack. She was only 67. As per a statement made by the officials of the hospital where she was admitted when she experienced the symptoms of the attack, even though Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation has been administered, she could not be saved. For last few years, she has been suffering from various ailments. She recently underwent a kidney transplantation surgery. It was her ailments that prevented her from becoming a part of the latest BJP government.

Notably, hours before her unexpected demise, she expressed her happiness in the deletion of Article 370 from the constitution.

Several prominent leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed their condolences in the unexpected demise of the admirable leader.

A lawyer by profession, the BJP leader started her political career in her early 20s. She was the youngest Cabinet Minister in the Haryana government led by the late Devi Lal. She was only 25 then. Her career saw a consistent growth. She held several important political positions, including the position of Delhi Chief Minister and the post of External Affairs Minister. Her dedication and hard work earned her good reputation as a talented administrator. Her oration skills were also commendable. She was one of the leaders who helped the Saffron party to get into the heart of the people of the country.

Not many know that the leader had a socialist background. She was a member of the legal team constituted to help popular socialist leader George Fernandes who was imprisoned during the period of emergency.

She was married to renowned lawyer Swaraj Kaushal. The couple has a daughter Bansuri Swaraj.

The demise of the great leader has marked the end of an eventual political chapter in the modern political history of the country.

The cremation ceremony is expected to be conducted Today itself.
