Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi to visit Umbha village
Today, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is expected to visit the Uttar Pradesh village of Umbha, where ten Gond tribals were killed in a clash with a group led by a village headman.
Her earlier attempt to visit the village, immediately after the incident, was blocked by the district administration, as the section 144 of the CrPC, which prohibits the gathering of four or more people, was imposed in the region to bring the situation under control.
Nearly 28 people were injured in the incident. The Congress leader then met the representatives of the community and those who were injured in the incident.
In her upcoming visit, she will verify what all measures have been taken by the government to ensure the safety of the villagers who were brutally attacked.
The clash originally broke out in the name of a land. The village headman and his goons were trying to take over the disputed land from the control of the community. It was those who defended the land who became the victims of the incident.
As per a latest media report, all arrangements have been made in the area by the district administration to ensure the safe visit of the Congress leader in the village.
